Dat Nguyen

My name is Dat Nguyen, I’m an engineer with 10+ years of experience building fault-tolerant, distributed systems using Erlang/OTP in cloud-native environments. I am passionate about applying functional programming and resilient architecture to high-availability platforms supporting real-time communication, automation, and telemetry.

I’ve contributed to telecom infrastructure (Ericsson), network automation platforms (Cisco ConfD/NSO), and large-scale communication services (Voice, IVR, WhatsApp, SMS, USSD) at PxD. At 5GenCare, I design and operate real-time IoT/AIoT,high-availability backends focused on device communication and data processing.

Driven by a passion for functional programming and resilient architecture, I focus on building high-availability systems that are scalable, maintainable, and built to last. I also actively contribute to the Erlang/OTP ecosystem.

I hold a Master’s degree in Information Technology from the University of Information Technology, Vietnam, with IEEE-published research on hybrid geolocation using LoRaWAN and Semtech LR1110.

This article presents a multi-standard system for geolocation applications. The multi-standard Semtech LR1110 components are integrated into a multiple antenna platform. For indoor scenarios, the proposed terminal can be positioned by WiFi Passive scanning technique. For outdoor methods, GNSS positioning is used. Moreover, this system supports LoRa communication to send the data to the server for different tracking or positioning applications. The board is packaged on an IP65 enclosure with an overall dimension of 90mm x 90mm x 40mm. With the average power consumption down to 26.6uA, this proposal is suitable for the low-power wide-area network (LPWAN).
